Description

Getting your daily dose of vitamins and minerals through diet alone can be extremely difficult, especially for a vegan or plant-based diet. This is why Vegums complete range of vitamins is the perfect solution to top you up with essential nutrients while respecting the planet.

Better for Everyone

Humans usually get their omega-3 from eating seafood, but this is riddled with problems. It’s not vegan, it’s full of chemical and metal contaminants, and it’s not sustainable – fishing nets make up a shocking 46% of ocean plastic pollution.

Did you know that omega-3 is only found in fish because they directly or indirectly consume algae? That’s why Vegums extracted their omega-3 straight from the source.

Marine algae oil is sustainably produced and carefully purified to give you all the great nutrients and none of the heavy metal contaminants.

Nutritional info

Using only naturally-derived flavours and colours, your daily dose of Fish-Free Omega-3 gives you a delicious boost of DHA. Providing a huge 80mg DHA per daily dose, they help to maintain healthy eyes, skin, heart and brain — especially important during childhood development. A great-tasting orange flavoured alternative, kinder to our oceans and sea-life.

DHA is the most bioavailable fatty acid in omega-3, and Vegums is extracted and purified from sustainably sourced marine algae. Not only that – you’ll also get an immune boost from vitamin E! Vegums use the natural sweetness of real oranges and a pinch of unrefined beet sugar — just a sixth of a teaspoon per portion.

Certified Vegan

Vegums products are certified vegan by The Vegan Society. They only use only plant derived ingredients, gelling agents and colourings, making it easy for people to switch to a Vegan diet whilst staying healthy.

Whilst Vegums are certified vegan by the Vegan Society, that doesn’t mean they’re not perfect for vegetarians and omnivores from 3+ too. Veggies struggle to meet their omega-3 quota, and there’s no doubt that algae oil is a better option for omnis too.

Vegums are big advocates for reusing.

Look at these gorgeous green herbs sprouting out of Vegums tubes. Reusing is better than recycling because it saves energy! It also significantly reduces waste and pollution. If you don’t fancy reusing those tubes though, you can pop them in your compost along with cellulose veg starch bags. Zero-waste, zero worries

Faq

Are Vegums products suitable for children?

Vegums have been specially designed to allow a simple dosage of ONE gummy bear for children (3-12 years old) and TWO for adults (and children over 12) – perfect for all the family!

Do Vegums products contain sugar?

Each gummy bear contains a pinch of sugar: 0.7g (a sixth of a teaspoon), which is also the same quantity as the sugar in a chewable vitamin. Both Omega-3 and Iron gummies contain natural beet sugar, whilst Multivitamin contains unrefined cane sugar.

Do Vegums products contain gelatine?

Absolutely not! Vegums use pectin (from citrus fruits) as a gelling agent. Along with all other ingredients, it’s totally vegan.

What should I do if my child / pet / partner eats too many supplements?

We advise that you stick to the recommended dose and seek the advice of a doctor or pharmacist if you know someone who has taken too many gummies. The Multivitamin for Vegans contains mainly water-soluble vitamins, which are easily removed from the body in urine if too much is consumed so these shouldn’t cause a problem. The only exception to this is vitamin D, which is fat-soluble and if taken at a very dose for a prolonged period of time can become harmful to the body. Taking 60,000 IU of Vitamin D a day for several months has been shown to cause toxicity. This is the equivalent of taking 150 Vegums every day for several months. https://www.mayoclinic.org/healthy-lifestyle/nutrition-and-healthy-eating/expert-answers/vitamin-d-toxicity/faq-20058108 Our Iron gummies contain 7mg each, so it’s important that you stick to the recommended dose as iron is stored in the body. According to The Department of Health and Social Care, you should not regularly be supplementing more than 17mg of iron per day. The tolerable upper limit for a one-off intake is slightly higher at 20mg, but the NHS states that this is when you might see side-effects such as constipation, nausea and stomach pain. Extremely high doses can be fatal, so keep out of reach of children. https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/vitamins-and-minerals/iron/ It is hard to define a tolerable single upper limit for Omega-3, but prolonged high intake of fatty acids (DHA, EPA or ALA) can increase risk of cardiovascular disease. The European Food Safety Authority states that supplemental intakes of DHA alone up to about 1 g/day, or 5g/day of DHA and EPA combined, do not raise safety concerns for the general population. It is therefore advised not to regularly exceed this. The dietary recommendations for EPA and DHA based on cardiovascular risk considerations for European adults are between 250 and 500 mg/day is sufficient. https://www.efsa.europa.eu/en/efsajournal/pub/2815
